After being away from home for 6 weeks now, I am obviously very excited to get home. As I was perusing SF Gate online tonight I came across a list of restaurant and food recommendations from the SF Chronicle food critics. Some of the places I've been to and love (Bakesale Betty's, Fentons, Tartine & Nopalito...to name a few favorites), but thanks to the article I now have many new places to add to my "must visit" list.

In case that's not enough, I thought I would add a few of my own...
Samovar Tea Lounge (San Francisco) - Not just an amazing array of teas, but delicious foods in a setting that I never want to leave. My recent favorite: Ryokucha green tea and the Japanese Maki bowl with salmon.
Arizmendi Bakery (SF & Oakland) - The pizza of the day, the Wolverine Bread, and the oat scones.
Sweet Adeline (Berkeley) - Anything! Seriously, everything in that place is amazing.
Philz Coffee (SF, Palo Alto, San Jose) - Jacob's Wonderbar Brew, medium sweet, creamy, with mint (of course)!
Bittersweet Chocolate Cafe (San Francisco) - Biscerine (espresso, water, and a whipped cream topper).
Nob Hill Grille (San Francisco) - I haven't made it there for brunch yet (what this place gets a ton of publicity for), but I have loved everything on the dinner menu. For a special treat, reserve a spot for their once-monthly fixed tasting menu.
Bursa (San Francisco) - The falafel salad. The falafels are stuffed with goat cheese and this incredibly fresh salad is topped with a dab of avocado salsa for added flavor.
Bullshead (San Francisco) - If you want the freshest, juiciest burger in town, head here. I like mine with avocado and cheddar on a wheat bun, with steamed veggies instead of fries.
La Taqueria - Carne asada burrito with avocado...the freshest burrito in town.
Starbelly (San Francisco) - The side of brussel sprouts coated with parmesan and chili flakes.
Marc 49 (Oakland) - Awesome wine bar, especially if you get a seat in the back back room.
Gary Danko (San Francisco) - Tuna tartare, beautifully plated to look like a butterfly.
La Mediterranee (San Francisco & Berkeley) - The Mediterranean mezze platter & the mint tea.
El Mansour (San Francisco) - Moroccan food: prix fixe menu in a gorgeous tent like space. The pastilla is delicious.
